Timber Frame residence: This family home of 200 sqm, set in birch woodland, is nearing completion. It is an ambitious self build project constructed of a timber frame structure with an outer skin of brick, lime render and cedar cladding.

Reconciling the desire for light and views to the south with the need for privacy and energy conservation has given each primary elevation a distinct character. Large windows to the south coupled with polished concrete floors allow the absorption of solar energy.

Materials chosen are robust & affordable. Research into alternative building technologies to achieve the most cost effective construction budget is paramount to this project. An unusual feature of this project which is just completed and not yet photographed is a laminated timber curved slide from the first floor.
